Stockton, CA…After opening the season last weekend the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour presented by Abreu Vineyards is right back at it this Saturday night with a journey to the Stockton Dirt Track.
The event at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds facility marks the annual “Asparagus Cup” and is the first of two SCCT appearances this year in Stockton. The fully loaded show on April 1st also features the NARC 410 Sprint Cars and the Hunt Magnetos Wingless Tour.
The much-anticipated race is held two weekends prior to the annual San Joaquin Asparagus Festival, which sees more than 65,000 people come through the gates over its three-day run.
Former winners of the Asparagus Cup include current World of Outlaws stars James McFadden and Giovanni Scelzi, along with most recently Roseville’s Colby Copeland.
All cars that competed at the SCCT opener will be vying for $3,000-to-win on Saturday, thanks to the www.shopkylelarson.com bonus up for grabs.
Aromas throttle-masher Justin Sanders claimed the win last Saturday at the SCCT lid-lifter in Placerville. Sanders was especially strong at the Stockton Dirt Track in 2022, sweeping both ends of the SCCT and NARC finales last November, to go along with a runner up with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour in July.
Other drivers looking to punch their ticket into victory lane on Saturday will include reigning winner Colby Copeland, along with Fremont’s Shane Golobic, Auburn’s Andy Forsberg, Lincoln’s Tanner Carrick, Modesto’s Tony Gomes, Clarksburg’s Justyn Cox, Oakley’s Dylan Bloomfield, Hanford’s Michael and Mitchell Faccinto, Suisun City’s Chance Grasty, Lemoore’s Gauge Garcia, Clovis’ Dominic Gordon, Fresno’s Caeden Steele, Dunnigan’s Luke Hays, El Cajon’s Braden Chiaramonte and many more.
“We had an excellent opener with SCCT last weekend in Placerville and now look forward to Stockton on Saturday,” commented tour President Scott Russell. “The schedule this season is a little more condensed, so it will be our only visit to the Stockton Dirt Track until November. We hope the fans will come out and fill the stands this weekend because it’s going to be a great show. The talent on hand in that pit area is going to be pretty incredible.”

Adult tickets at the Stockton Dirt Track this Saturday April 1st cost $30, while seniors 65+ and juniors ages 5-12 will be $25. Those four and under are free. With a large car count expected, the pit meeting will be held around 3:30pm, with cars on track for packing shortly after. Hot laps, Sierra Foothills Wine Services qualifying and racing will follow. The front gate for spectators opens at 4pm.
SCCT teams must utilize a muffler this Saturday in Stockton. It will mirror that of the NARC rule, which is Flowmaster, SpinTech, Schoenfeld 14272735-78 or Extreme mufflers.
