Severe hot weather cancels SCCT event in Chico Saturday

Record setting temperatures are heating up Northern California. With hotter temperatures predicted in the next few days and into this upcoming weekend reaching 110 degrees, SLC Promotions has decided it is in the best interest of everyone to forgo the upcoming two-day racing event at Silver Dollar Speedway.

“The last thing we want to do is cancel scheduled racing events,” said Colby Copeland of SLC Promotions. “But safety is our number one priority, and we don’t want to put our drivers, staff, and fans in harms way with these hot temperatures.”

This weekend’s Summer Nationals was set to kick off this Friday night, July 21, with three divisions, including the West Coast Hobby Stock Tour. On Saturday night, the Sprint Car Challenge Tour and the Dwarf Cars were set to race in honor of Tyler Wolf. As of now, none of these events or divisions will be added to the 2023 racing schedule.

However, we still want to honor Tyler Wolf, and will now add his name to the Aug 25th race night featuring the Winged 360 Sprints (Oregon Speed Week), Hobby Stocks, and IMCA Northern Sport Mods. Also, we will host kids bike night and fan appreciation night on August 25th. More details about that upcoming event will be released soon.

Within the next 72 hours, all pre-purchased Summer National tickets will be refunded 100 percent.

Even with the Summer Nationals being cancelled, seven more nights of racing are still scheduled. For more information about those upcoming events, including the 69th Gold Cup Race of Champions presented by Riebes NAPA Auto Parts, or to purchase tickets, please visit our website www.silverdollarspeedway.com

The Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour presented by Abreu Vineyards will now return to competition at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville on Saturday August 19th. The night of racing marks the 63rd running of the Johnny Key Classic.
