Justin Sanders surges to SCCT win at Merced Speedway on Friday

Whenever you put Aromas, California driver Justin Sanders on the front row in the feature it’s going to be a tall task for the rest of the field.
That was certainly the case on Friday night, as Sanders led all 30-laps to claim the penultimate Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour event of the season at Merced Speedway.
Sanders piloted the Mittry Construction No. 2x to his 16th career SCCT triumph and overall win number 15 of the 2026 campaign. The now two-time NARC titlist also began the evening by tallying the Sierra Foothills Wine Services Fast Time Award with a blistering lap of 10.467.
At the waving of the green flag in the Shop Kyle Larson feature it was Sanders blasting into the lead of Cotati’s Jake Haulot.
The former Petaluma Speedway champion stayed within striking distance the first handful of laps, before Shane Golobic was able to get by on lap 11.
Golobic would ride along in second until getting over a lapped cars right rear with 11 circuits remaining. He kept going and eventually finished in the seventh position.
Sanders would go on to work lapped traffic like a magician and grab the Ed Entz checkered flag over DJ Netto, who continued his excellent last month of racing.
Oakley’s Dylan Bloomfield made some nice moves in the main event to earn the final spot on the podium. Haulot and Suisun City’s Chance Grasty completed the top five.
Rounding out the top 10 were SCCT point leader Justyn Cox, Golobic, Pit Stop USA Hard Charger Jake Morgan, Carson Hammes and Cole Croft.
The Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour finishes off the season tonight at the Stockton Dirt Track with the 43rd running of the Tribute to Gary Patterson.
